The Drag of Bruised Fruit and Simple Syrups

Jalisa Sousa-Silva is a printmaker from the Central Valley, currently working out of Chico, CA. In 2023, she received her BFA in Printmaking at CSU Chico. Although she also credits much of her art practice to instructors at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA as well. She has since used years of printmaking experience to host workshops and sell her work through both various local markets and freelance. Her preferred mediums are lithography, relief, and screenprint. 

Multiple of her themes are informed by interests she’s been inspired by since she was a teenager. From an obsession with history, drag, and horror, this evolved into diving deeper and finding its connections within camp, surrealism, and fashion. When she’s not collecting photography books or reading about historical influences, she often is playing video games or getting excited over meeting new cats.
